The colors are popping, the people are milling about, and the out of state cars are all over which means it is that time again. Vermonts great foliage season. Love every ounce of color but could do without the annoying amount of traffic that comes with it. (IYKYK Ha!)

The week started at Coolidge State Park. A cool dreary day and it really was just perfect camping. We went on a long ass hike and took in the trees, hung out under the canopy next to the fire while it rained, and crawled into the tent before it really started to pour but that was even soothing. The whole place was just super gorgeous and super quite. It’s one of my favorite places to camp.

After we woke up and packed up, we heading back to town. The mr went off to work and I made giant cookie cake for Coco because yes, he turned 5 freaking years old. Can’t even believe that shit. We went over for pizza and shenanigans and giant cookie cake (everyone wants one know) and that was that.

The rest of the week went by as usual. The mr was out doing his thing, I did a shit ton of chores, ripped up half the garden, threw some, worked at the studio and met another Gigi (I might steal her) and yeah, just did life.

Yesterday, well the mr and I took a little drive to a place were I gave a nice man money to stab a hole into my face. Yup, that was fun. Then I came home and cleaned the house. What a day.

Sunday again which means we camp. Going south a bit to one of our favorites, Half Moon, and this time we are brining the kayaks. (Probably going to be the last time for the year). Hopefully the drive down doesn’t piss me off too much (leaf peepers are terrible drivers) but I am really looking forward to the day. How could I not?

We are in the thick of it, the middle of summer. And for some reason I have yet to really feel any real summery vibe, if that makes any sense. I don’t know what it is. I am hot as hell, outside more then in, running around with little to no clothing on and have the dirtiest feet, eating all the summer veggies, and living all the summertime adventures. And yet something, some feeling that I usually feel is yet to be had. Huh. I guess there is still time but to be honest, I am already wishful for fall. (I am and will always be that person.)

The week was good. Started off with soggy camping in the Groton State Forest. Went kayaking then hiking, and then set up camp, all in a light rain. It wasn’t down pouring but everything was wet. We did out best drying out by the fire and by the time we both ate our camp lentil stew and climbed into the tent to sleep, we assed out. Then we woke up, made the coffee, busted down camp, then headed back home.

And the rest of the week flew by. Beside the the usual we took a couple of smaller hikes. I picked up farm share which is now starting to really amp up (giant tomatoes!). I picked flowers and lots of turnips from the garden and spent a lot of time hanging with Megan and So. I got pooped on by a bird and developed a gigantic blood blister on my ding-a-ling thing in my throat (uvula ?) which was gross and unnecessary. And then at the end of the week we took a long drive south to the Vermont Ceramic Store and got me 250 lbs of clay (should keep me busy for a little while). All in all, a busy, satisfying, got shit done, week.

And we are back to Sunday and back to our camping schedule. We have 2 state parks to choose from so not exactly sure where we will end up. All I know is that I have been looking forward to getting back out in the tent since we packed it up last Monday. I always wonder why we come home. I am meant to live in the woods.

The mr and I just got home form camping in Maine and I am tired as fuck. After 2 days of running around with Megan, Justin, and the kids we got no sleep then left late last night (to avoid the flash flood warnings) and got home at like 2am. The drive home sucks ass. We were both exhausted, it was raining, the GPS took us to an imaginary road so we got lost. But we made it home and I assed out for a few hours but I still have barely slept so I am not really that interested in anything other then cleaning the car out of camping stuff, starting the laundry, getting some food into my face, and taking a freaking nap.

These are pictures from last week. A good week with lots of outdoors and littles and yeah. I have all the pictures form Maine to go through but this is all I got in me for now.

Can you even believe it’s the week of Thanksgiving? Like really, it is. I know right? And yeah, it might be a little more low key and quiet and maybe even non existent this year, but hey, if missing a big family gathering (we are skipping our big family thanksgiving) will keep more people from getting sick, well then I say that is oh so fine by me. We will just float the holiday until we can all safely be together. Thanksgiving in April. Maybe we will make it a new yearly thing. Here’s to new traditions!

Another week past and not a whole heck of a lot happened of interest. The mr and I have been busy with lots of little things that need to be done around the house and the other houses and life. I have been trying to get a good chunk of glazing done so I have stuff stocked for selling and the mr has been riding around town with the scooter (the truck in in the shop) fixing things and doing whatever he does when he doesn't have a big project going on, all the while staying away from all the people, like way away. I did go for a walk with Megan and So in the woods and the mr, Barb, and I also took the littles for a nice walk because outdoors in fine and we need to hang with the littles, but other then that, no peoples. Oh, and we (fyi, Barb is basically always part of “we”. She basically lives with us now) took Gigi to the vets to get spayed. Another to do checked off the list.

And it snowed a little and it made me happy. I also picked up farm share and got 2 gigantic stocks of Brussels sprouts which is always a good thing, and I repotted a bunch of house plants that need replanting.

Sunday again. Happens every week. The mr and I are taking a drive to go walk some property that I am probably way to optimistic about, but damn, we need to get land before everyone buys it all up! This chunk looks oh so pretty and nice and hard to get to and has all the trees. At the very least, we are going to walk around in the woods for a little while so there’s that. And as far as for when I get home and have the rest of the afternoon to do whatever, welp I think it is time to bust out the Christmas decorations! It’s happening. I am excited!

Just the other night the mr and I were having the conversations about doing the heater checks in all the apartments, what the plans are going to be for the holidays, and all the end of the year things that need to be done before, well the end of the year. It was a weird conversation because were did the year even go? 2020 flying on by through a shit storm and we are not slowing down.

Another great week that began with more fantastic hiking and camping. We were at one of my favorite places, Groton Forest, ans lucky not a whole heck of a lot of people were there. Our hikes were beyond gorgeous,the air was cool, it was quiet and calm, and the sky was clear. Just a solid A+ camp.

Then we slept, woke up, broke down camp and came home. Every week we come home is hard. The mr and I could live in the woods forever! Life goals.

The rest of the week went as usual. The mr off doing all the work he always is doing plus talking to plumbers, plaining wood with Judah, selling (and sold) Barbs car, and was getting in as much fall scootering as he could before the thing needs to be stored away for winter. Me, same same. Studio stuff. Did some glazing, made more things, trying to get super ready for the holiday season and have a good stock of stuff to sell.

Not much really in the way fo eventfulness maybe besides me and Miley made a cake for shits and giggles then had dinner with Barb. Or that the mr and I filled out our ballets and I went and dropped them off at city hall. We also took the boys for a bike/walk. I picked up my second to last farm share for the summer (winter share starts in November) Oh, and I broke my freaking favorite eating fork. I have been eaten almost all my meals with this fork for like 10 years and it was truly a fantastic fork, perfect weight, perfect angle, perfect sharp tines. So that shook me. But I’ll be ok.

Today the mr and I are heading out for our second to last camp. Already sad about it but I am trying to not think about it too much. I want to just enjoy all the trees ans colors and go for a good hike and sit by a nice fire and go to sleep on the ground. All the good things.
