Sunday Happy

July 3, 2022 Colleen Stem

This past week just flew on by. I don’t know if it was because I was hustling to get my shit all ready for the market (I had the mr make me all new displays which are AMAZING but took a bit of time), or because there was some hot hot days that just kicked my ass, or maybe it was all the chaos with the kilns at the studio (I’m not going to go there. Still really pissed about it all), but yeah, it came and went and poof. And in between all that good stuff I managed some strawberry and flower picking, gardening, and um some other stuff. Obviously nothing that fantastic since I can’t remember it.

Then Saturday was market day. A long full day of selling pots and talking, talking, talking. Markets are always so much fun and I get to meet so many cool people but man do they kick my ass. Honestly I could run a marathon and be less tired then spending 6 hours being social. As soon as the day is over and the car is packed I turn to trash and my brain shuts down. This is my life as a true introvert. Now I will hide from all the people for the next two weeks until my next market. I’ll need ever single day of those 2 weeks to recover. 😝

Sunday. Welp it’s another one of those “need to get a bunch of shit done” days which is fine because Mondays are usually a “get shit done day” but because it is the 4th, the mr and I are taking the morning off and going for a nice long bike ride. So yeah, today might not be all the fun relaxing doings, and if I am honest I don’t have the energy to be doing fun if that makes since, but tomorrow will be nice. And again if I am honest I am sure I’ll make it home later with enough time for at least a bit of coffee and reading time (my fun time) so it’s all good. And a nap. Or hell, I’ll probably just go to bed super early because yes, I am an old lady. Let’s just all hope that the stupid fireworks don’t wake me up again. Not good for any of use if they do.

Have a great rest of the long weekend! Don’t be an asshole with the fireworks!

Sunday Happy

February 9, 2020 Colleen Stem

We finally got us some real winter around here and I couldn’t be any happier! YIPPE!

How was your week? Mine was good, if not a little on the hectic side, but what is new?

I started out Sunday at the art market. Of course by the time I got there I was feeling like complete shit. The ick that was in and out of me all last week was in at the time and I just wanted to curl into a ball and sleep. But I trudged on and had a great time, hanging out, talking to people, checking out the other vendors. Iit was cool, and completey exhausting. I learned real quickly that the hardest part about selling stuff in person is having to be a person and talk to a lot of people. HA. So after the market, I came home, ate soup, and slept. Spent the next day not talking to anyone and keeping myself on the low key trying to keep the ick a bay.

And then Tuesday and Wednesday came any went with the normal stuff of work, family, life.

Thursday was very productive. Woke up to snow which started the day great, and the mr and I (but mostly the mr) spent the day tearing out old cupboards from the basement and building out shelves for my studio. And let me tell you, having a wall of shelves, fantasticly built shelves mind you, in my studio is a game changer. I have so much space now and it is freaking amazing. That mr. He really is just a pretty great dude.

Friday started off with me chipping away at least 1/2 and inch, if not more, of ice from the car. Seriously took me like 20 minutes to get it cleaned just enough to drive, which was the last thing I was interested in doing at 5am. But what are you gonna do? Anyway, I managed to de-ice, and go along my way, even if I did break the stupid ice scraper. Oops. But it was all worth it because after the night of ice, we got the snow storm! I think it was reported we got 15 inches, all within like 10 hours. Heavy, big, beautiful snow. I was home early in the day and the mr came home around lunch and tried to leave again afterwards but the roads were complete shit so we were stuck. And I LOVE being stuck in snow weather. It makes me feel like a kid again and that nothing but being comfy matters. So I spent the afternoon interchanginging my snow boots to shovel and walk around in the storm, and my respirator because when I was inside, I was in my studio, with my new shelves,c leaning away. I am trying to get all the dust and grossness out which is a hard task to do to a 100 year old basement that is now a pottery studio, but I am trying!

Yesterday was amazing. All the fresh snow, the bluest of blue skies, crisp, clean, cold air without much wind. A+ perfection. Sure my shoulders were a little sore from all the shoveling that Friday brought, but good sore if that you know what I mean. And so the day went. Did the usual, got the chores done, the grocery shopping in, the work done. Then we hung out with the littles for a while. The mr and Miley shoveling out the driveway, me and Judah attempted to make paper flowers, and hung out while waiting for Coco to come home from the hospital. (He had to spend a few days there because he choked and aspirated but he is doing alright now.) When he finally did come home, the first he did was throw a fit because he wanted chocolate. So all was good there and so we left and came back home to eat and sleep.

Today I am going to hit the gym early, come home and toss beans and pre-chopped veggies (because I planned ahead!) into the slow cooker for dinner and then I am back at it. 11-3, selling my wares at the art market (It’s in Winooski at 2creativecommunity) Rainbows and heart mugs. So if you want to pick up a little something sweet for your sweety and/or yourself, come on down. And yes, Valentines day is next week, but that really shoudnt’t be the reason to buy a heart of rainbow. Treating yourself and/or a lover/friend/sister/brother/mother/crossing guard (you get the idea) to a piece that makes you/them happy is what it’s all about. And it lasts every dang day forever!(Unless you break it so don’t do that.)

We usually go for a hike or something outdoorsy, pack a lunch and get good coffee. And a few years ago we started a tradition of buying a new plant for ourselves, together. Because that is what valentines day is, a day to spend together. Chocolate and flowers not needed!

Sunday Happy

February 2, 2020 Colleen Stem

You didn’t forget what today is right?

It’s Groundhog Day! Duh. A super great, super awesome, just a super super duper day. And that is all I care about in terms of super things today because super anything else is just not the kind of super I am into. Ha!

Everything this week has flown by in a blur. I feel like everyday I have been really busy running around, going to banks, DMV-ing, stores, and packaging sending places. A bit of this, a bit of that, and all the other life chores coming at me. Plus I have been getting ready to start selling my stuff at an art market so I have busy busy trying to gather my stuff, finish pieces, and make it look like I am legitimate and know a little of what I am doing. (Not an easy task.) The mr has been super busy running around doing small work projects for people all week but in between all that, he still has managed to help me out so so much. He built me a crazy rocking cool display for my rainbows, helped me with business card, and has just been a overall support for my crazy lady shelf, even when I am being an asshole. (He is the best!) And to top it all off, I have had a low grade ick that just is barely there but is there and is driving me nuts. One day my head hurts, the next my throat, and now it is my ears and throat. Grrr. But I am not going to complain too much. It could be worse.

Besides feeling slightly hectic and busy, we did manage a dinner night with my mom, Paul, and Barb. That night was memorable due to the fact that I might have accidentally, but on purpose, spilled a very large glass of water directly into the mr’s lap for reasons that had to do with carrots. He has not let me forget what I did all week but I do not regret my actions. I take my carrots very seriously. Haha. We also had the littles over for dinner and I damn near had to pry their little hands aways from the electronics they came over attached to. That was a bitch of battle and for anyone needing to know for future reference, my house is now a ZERO hand held computer apparatus space. No iPads or phones or video game shit. Only real life fun times.

I can’t think of much more then that, other then being extremely disappointed in the weather. And now the week is over.

Today is the day. Gonna be wheeling and dealing my wares. 11-3, at the art market at 2creativecommuinty in Winooski. Come on by, say hey hey hey, and check out and maybe buy some cool art!
