I am trying to remember what exactly I did this past week, but it's kind of a blur. I know I spent more time then I thought I needed cleaning the loft for Jeff Dad and the mr and I have been shopping around for a washer and dryer (Any recommendations?) But yeah, I know we have ibeen busy, but doing what, I can't remember. I have been a bit tired and a little foggy, I know that much. I have been being bad and not getting as much sleep as I usually need. I need to stop staying awake reading all night (I am such an old lady).
The mr and I spent the morning yesterday pulling up and harvesting half the garden. The squash are gone so those plants went, winter squash harvested. Pulled a few carrots and beets. Half the tomatoes are picked including a shit load of green ones that are going to ripen nice and slow on the back porch. (Still have a thousand tomatoes growing that I think can ripen on their own). Pulling the garden apart is a very satisfying thing. I seems like just a few days ago that I starting seeds and now I am shoveling carrots into my mouth and getting pieces of tomato plants stuck in my hair. Plant growth is an amazing and magical and all sorts of satisfying. And now that half the beds are cleared, I'm going to plant abed of greens. Other then that, already planning for next years garden. But before I get there I am trying to decide if I want to plant a cover crop or just do a good thick layer of leaves for the winter. What do you do?
After all the manual labor and sore back, the family came over and trashed my house! Haha. Jeff and all of his offspring and all of their littles all here and it went great. No fighting, no screaming, no temper tantrums. Just accidents. One little fell off the toilet and hit her head on the cast iron tub. One little got stung by a yellow jacket, and one medium little bumped a tiny littles head on the ceiling. But other then that, it was fantastic. The mr built a fire out back and grilled meat. I sharped sticks for marshmallows and husked corn, cut up veggies and watermelon. (Fun fact. When kids bitch about seeds in watermelon just tell the the truth, that they are good for you and have lots of protein and make you tall, and they will eat it.) So many cell phone selfies, dance parties and baby racing. Good times with my crazy ass family, even when they wear their shoes in the house. the house. (no one listens to the no shoes in house thing. My floor looks like a freaking barn floor)
I am pretty tired from yesterday and the whole week in general so I think today, after I clean the shit out of my house and get rid of the meat compost bucket and all the beer bottles, I am going to take a nap.
