Sunday Happy

April 2, 2017 Colleen Stem

I might not have been excited at first about the near 6 inches of snow that we got yesterday but it was actually really fun and nice, like a last hurrah of winter.. It was gorgeous, the mr and I got to play in it with a couple of littles (we built snow towers), we didn't really have to shovel anything, and it's already melting at a rapid pace. And now it can be spring and all will be good.

This week was a up and down week. A year since Sean passed making for some hard times, but there was also some good. It was my moms birthday so we had pretty much the entire family packed into our house for a birthday dinner. I have come to the realization that I might need to get more plates and that the contents of my fridge might not be what most people would call normal (Yes there are 20 heads of cabbage in there and a drawer full of celery roots. No I do not have ranch dressing or any dressing for that matter. Sorry) We did a bit of running around, trying to get some work done but again, the weather wasn't exactly cooperating and a lot of what we need to do is outside so we didn't get as much done as we wanted. Oh well. And then the mr got sick. In bed with a bug. Me, I am being the best girlfriend, fetching tea and ginger ale, warm wash clothes, blankets, and just being sweet. I figure that I might as well. I do like the guy and plus, it could be me in that bed sometime soon. (I better not get sick)

Today I am going to continue downing charcoal pills chased with apple cider vinegar to avoid getting any of this stomach bug thing and do a massive disinfection of everything that was touch, so basically a house clean day. Maybe I can even open some windows because it's suppose to be warm.  And maybe I'll drag the mr out for a walk. Chirping birds and fresh air. Hello there Spring!!!!

Sunday Happy

I don't know about you, but the past week has left me with a knot of dread in my gut. There has been a lot of utter bullshitbeing shoved in our faces, invoking feelings of rage and dismay and I am trying to figure how to be in this reality. It's scary and strange and leaves me feeling a little crazy. Add that feeling to a little mid winter blues.... I am not exactly of sound mind these days. (Ha, have I ever been?)

But there was a lot of good things. Little simple things like making pizza with the littles or walking through ice covered trees at 5 in the morning. New doors, a head of messy hair, a hint of blue sky. My little bits of happiness that really make me appreciate all the good that I have in my life.

And today, well I need to decompress my brain. I am going to take it slightly easy with work and do a news detox. No NPR. No NY Times. Do a little cleaning then chill. A good book, lots of hot beverages, a walk in the woods, some watercolor paints. The simple things to clear my head. You should do the same.

Some of the internet from the week.

-Bill Nye explains: what would happen if all the ice melted on Earth? We need to know this.

-Aziz Ansari’s Monologue on ‘Saturday Night Live’: Transcript. Not just funny..Smart and real.

Sunday Happy

I feel like we are officially doing winter now. Snow and chill for the next three months. Some people might not be excited for any of it, but me, I am excited to get out in some snow covered woods and take it all in. I love me some winter.

This past week was a week of trying to feel not sick (still feeling a little sick) and to get myself all organized for the year. Not a new years resolutions, just a tax man thing. Aggh, already thinking of taxes.. lets just not right now.  Besides that, not to much else. We babysat, worked, I tested out my new wood carving knives that the mr got me for Christmas and almost cut my hand off (which means tha they are really good).  The week kind of flew by, but oh yeah,  the kitchen, it's like pretty much DONE!!!! I have a working sink, faucet, cabinet doors, and have been using the stove all week. It's amazing, and strange and I am looking forward to lots and lots of kitchen time. There are still things that need doing, but last night I prepared our entire meal on the kitchen counter and not on the dining table or floor. It was a pretty great feeling.

Today. Got a day full of events.   Most pressing is that my twin bros are doing 19 today (Happy Birthday Shitheads) and are coming over in a few hours for some home made cinnamon buns that I need to go make. So I should go do that.

Interneting from the week.
